A short bumpy ride in a taxi made me want to write this.
It truly baffles me, but old folks seem to natuarally feel uneasy in my continued presense.
Ever since I was 13, this trend of parents becoming convinced that I taught their darlings to revolt against their tender tyranny developed.
For reasons unknown to me, the old folks never understood the true nature of the discontent their offsprings held and instead decided to arrow it to the person standing next closest, me.
It is so unfair. Especially when I have not had a nasty thing to say to my parents for god knows how long.
I think most parents never knew what parenting is about. And I'm not about to say I have the answer to that.
However, my parents said something to me many years ago, and I believe the wisdom of it all I will remember for the rest of my life. (I took the liberty to paraphase it a little.)
"Parents forms the most important PAST influence for any child, and should always be PRESENT to support them when they have to, but they can never write their FUTURE because that is a job that should always be left to the child himself."
Gee. I wonder how many families in the world can acheive this?
And to add to what my mum said many many years ago. I came up with something on my own.
Being a good parent : Part 1
"Provide proper care and guidance"
Being a good parent : Part 2
"Letting go"
"It is virtually impossible to be a perfect parent, but there's millions of ways to be a really really good one." -- Dialouge from Cheaper by the dozen.
