I am a clueless dude who stumbled into trading and investment because I was becoming a dad and I didn't want to leave my kid with nothing when I die. Along the way, I made money gambling on dog money, lost all the money earned. Then I lost some more money to cover the losess of family who traded based on my advise. I started learning technical analysis in order to trade more profitably and promptly went on to lose some more money. Somewhere along the line I started making profitable trades and I realised what I was getting wrong all the time previously. But that is a story for a seperate time.

I have been gone from the beautiful island of Singapore for a total of 4 months now. How I miss home, together with everything that comes along with it, good food, no nonsense government services, reliable policing, my family, friends, and Kaijun…

I did try to write down a description of the days I spent in India, however, I gave up pretty soon and instead choose to just jot down a few observations I made.

I am only putting up point forms, which I will elaborate 1 by 1 in subsequent postings. If every subsequent posting is a GP essay, then the points here would serve as good titles.

1. Third world mentality of the common man in India.
2. The downside of a corrupt and ineffective (govt) administration.
3. Sub-conscious practice of the caste system in India.
4. India: A conservative society pretending to be liberal
5. The power difference between men and women in India.
6. Between $1 and $1,000,000,000 - Rich poor gap in India.
7. Cricket world cup syndrome: Indian reactions = over-reactions??
8. Security guards everywhere, lack of trust or lack of honesty?
9. Drivers, lift operators and everyone in between - Over employment in India.

Actually, it was pretty tough listing the points. India cannot possibly be described in a few articles. The more I write, the more injustice I feel I’m doing to the country.

Anyway, in the weeks to come, I will try my best to write up on each and every one of the points I mentioned here.

Hope I am not overly ambitious.

One might also notice that most of the things I listed here are negative observations; I guess that I probably could write nice things about India if I wanted. But those things are really a lot harder to write as compared to articles of criticism. Especially if you come from a country as organized and comfortable as Singapore…
